So you go to a first date with someone you know from the office, from a referral of a common friend, or even through a dating website. You seem to get along fine. In fact, you sensed an electricity the first seconds of the date. The physical chemistry could not be denied and as you wind down with dessert and the bill, you suddenly have this urge to ask "your place or mine?"
Hold your horses! Remember, this is your first date. Nightcaps in either your or your date's place is seriously a no-no. This is because nightcaps are a clear indication that you're into each other and this can lead to something more. On your first date, that is definitely a bad idea. Why, you may ask? Here are some reasons:
1. It won't feel right.
Getting out of bed with a person who you just had a first date with just doesn't feel right. There's a feeling of guilt mixed with pleasure (if the sex was good). You might regret the sudden turn of events.
2. Sex = commitment.
There's somehow a connotation that just because two people had sex, they're bound by some connection to be in each other's lives. Yes, we are already in the 21st century and sex is pretty common during dates, but somehow why does everyone feel that just because you had sex, you have this link that you cannot ignore? Seriously, would you like to have that "burden?" If not, then resist the temptation of going to bed on the first date. Know the person a little bit better and see if you're actually compatible or into each other.
