Tips when Dressing Up for Your First Date-3.jpg

Knowing what to wear on the first date is a tricky business. After all, you would not want to send the wrong signal to your date, who will be observing you as you will be observing him or her as well. So, what do you exactly wear?

As in any other scenario, dress for the occasion. Will your first date be a brunch cruise? A simple afternoon coffee? A movie date? Definitely, you wouldn't want to be caught dead on stilettos or for guys, a silk tie when you will be going on an adventure hiking trail.

As for color, go for the safe middle ground. Neutral colors should be alright whether the date will be held in the evening or afternoon.

Ask yourself: what image do you actually want to portray to your date? Would you like to be a career-focused individual? A fun, outdoors-y person? A confident, laid-back guy? Your clothing will eventually show your personality; thus, the image that you would like to portray should match your clothes.

Be on the side of confident and powerful without sacrificing comfort. There may be some people who would like to have a go-getter, sexy, sophisticated image. However, keep in mind your self-confidence should always shine through, whatever clothes you're wearing. When trying to look confident, make sure you won't feel that your feet are killing you just 20 minutes into the date.

Your clothes, at the end of the day (or date) should be a reflection of your personality and taste. Don't choose clothes that will convince your date of a particular image unless it's exactly the image you would like yourself to be portrayed as, which should be, of course, a reflection of your personality.
